It was my humor. Sorry if I offended

Yeah... I run into the same thing. When I write for Americans (on a business proposal), I acquiesce and shift to their way of spelling. Not everyone knows is an American and an International or British way of spelling things. 🤔 Whatcha gonna dew ... rite? ... is there another way to look at it Going Too Fucking Far NEW Blog Features RevealeD O O A Foolproof Method Posted Over on that NEW site O O

I wouldn't fret about it. Grammar Nazis have nothing better to do with their lives then set behind a computer and judge others for their short comings.

Well-intentioned humour notwithstanding, both spellings are fully and equally *correct*. English/Canadian versus American spelling is a *preference* not a grammatical rule.

I've got a friend in Canada and I'm always giving him a hard time about his funny spelling....always throwing in that extra "u" in humour, colour, etc. But he knows I'm teasing, too (plus he lets me know my spelling is wrong. ) I'm used to seeing it written both ways and it's just not that hard to figure out...ya know? lol Your writing is always easy to understand. I enjoy your posts. Please don't change!

some people look for things to complain about.

sorry you were subjected to that, even if intended as humour. one of the worst parts of our country is our tradition to persecute and ridicule "aliens" english, which is sadly as old as we are. i remember laughing at comedian bill dana as "jose jimenez" in the 60s. those days are, or at least should be, FAR behind us. we kicked the native americans off their own land, remember? did WE speak wapanoag, delaware, cherokee or sioux, etc? know what? its almost 2020, we expect the world to speak english when the come here, which for the most part, they do, but mostly only because of the british empires brutal colonization of "primitive" EXISTING CIVILIZATIONS all around the world. if the spanish armada had been as successful, spanish would be the world dominate language rather than english. in fact, in a national election after the war for american independence, GERMAN narrowly missed being elected our national language because of how many german soldiers fought OUR war and settled here. and yet here, only immigrants and their immediate decendants appreciate speaking MORE than one language. in the rest of the world, WE are the ones who are ignorant for only speaking english and expecting everyone else to as well. so if an american is going to make fun of someones english, DONT LET IT BE CANADIENS for spelling a few words differently. theres NO reason to offend the most wonderful neighbors america could wish for, and are lucky to have. so they spell a few words differently? so what? hey americans, wake up ! ! ! look in the mirror - a lot of US dont spell or use a lot american-english words correctly ! "well only get through this if we work together. if we dont, none of us will"

I must be one of those rare Yanks who actually prefers to speak and spell some words differently. Like the word grey (the color). Americans say the *correct* spelling is with an "A" instead of an "E", and while I'm an American, I prefer to spell it with an "E". It "looks and sounds better" to me. Another word is theatre. This is the French spelling of the word, and maybe is spelled this way in some parts of Britain also. I don't pronounce it as the French do (te Ahh truh), I just say it the way I hear it here. But prefer to spell it the French way. Then there's Eddie Izzard: "You say 'erb', we say 'herb'... because there's a fucking "H" in it." "Be who you are and say what you feel. Those who matter won't mind, and those who mind won't matter." ~ Dr. Seuss.

in short, we americans have a $#!+load of more important things to address than if canadiens spell a few words differently. and yes, i used canadien spellings as a sign of respect and solidarity. lets tackle gun violence, racism and child hunger, to name a few before worrying how our best friends spell a few words . . . "well only get through this if we work together. if we dont, none of us will"

In my teens I used to discuss spelling and accent with an Australian girl , in her vacations … that : a) Screwed up permanently any Oxfordian accent, the teacher tried to instill in me b) Cured me of any Grammar Nazi tendencies I might have as a 16 year old c) Made me love the different attenuations in the language Cheers my lady, and tell them to shove it P

Didn't know. I know many pronoun words different. You get a person from New Orleans and a person from Massachusetts, get them to say same word. Wow! Amazing.
